Health Shield 'insures' future success with major award win
Health Shield has clinched a major industry award just 10 months after launching an ambitious new five year plan.
Health Shield has been crowned Group Cash Plan Provider of the Year at the Cover Excellence Awards 2009.
The awards – hosted by leading health insurance protection magazine, Cover – are voted for by intermediaries across the UK, as well as a select panel of industry specialists.
The prestigious accolade tops an extremely successful year for the organisation, which launched a new five year business plan in January. Within the space of 12 months, Health Shield has achieved ‘meteoric progress’ in the health cash plan market, according to industry experts. It has dramatically increased new company-paid corporate business and intends to double annual premium income to £43 million by 2013.
Jonathan Burton, Chief Executive at Health Shield, commented: “The Cover Excellence Award win is a great accolade and testament to the vision and hard work of the entire organisation. It rubber stamps the significant progress we’ve already made, less than one year after implementing a new comprehensive business strategy.
“It’s been a very challenging year across the entire health insurance and protection sector. With a fantastic team in place, an extremely competitive product portfolio and an ambitious five year plan, we’re well on course to further increase market share and brand awareness as one of the industry’s leading providers of corporate health cash plans.”
Health Shield is one of few providers that offer its members 100 per cent benefit payment across all benefits. In January 2009, it launched two new company paid products, Essentials and Essentials Plus, which also includes an employee assistance programme (EAP). It helps to cover everyday healthcare treatments costs, such as dental, optical, physiotherapy and complementary therapies.
Jonathan Burton added: “Historically, a handful of cash plan providers have had the market to themselves. In the last few years, there’s been a major shift in the sector and Health Shield is now well placed to take advantage of this change and increase its market presence.”
