Health Shield tops triumphant two weeks with awards honour
Health Shield has topped a great year after being highly commended at a second major industry awards – just days after its first accolade.
Health Shield was ranked as one of the top Healthcare Cash Plan Providers of the Year at the prestigious Health Insurance Awards 2009.
The glittering awards – hosted by Health Insurance Magazine – were attended by over 900 industry professionals and voted for by the UK’s leading insurance intermediaries. The honour follows hot-on-the-heels of the Health Shield’s success at the Cover Excellence Awards, when it was crowned Group Cash Plan Provider of the Year.
Health Shield’s progress perfectly reflects the society’s rapid rise in the sector since it launched a new five year business plan in January 2009. Within the last 10 months, it has dramatically increased new company-paid corporate business and intends to double annual premium income to £43 million by 2013.

Health Shield was the first and remains one of a handful of providers that offer its members 100 percent benefit payments across all its refundable benefits. In January 2009, it launched two off-the-shelf company-paid products, Essentials and Essentials Plus, which also includes an employee assistance programme (EAP). These were launched to complement its bespoke product – a comprehensive cash plan scheme that’s tailored for each company.
Health Shield helps to cover everyday healthcare treatments costs, such as dental, optical, physiotherapy and complementary therapies.
