Health Shield has got 100,000 covered
Health Shield – one of the UK’s leading corporate health cash plan providers – has hit the 100,000 members mark in a year of unprecedented growth.
The membership milestone is coupled with an extensive re-branding exercise for the Crewe-based organisation in a bid to shake-up its corporate identity across a broad range of communication channels. Health Shield specialises in the corporate market and boasts an impressive client list, including high street retailer Comet.
The landmark comes just one year into an ambitious five year plan to grow the business. According to the Association of Friendly Societies’ Key Statistics, Health Shield is one of the top ten friendly societies when measured by numbers of new members and new business premium income. Four of the top ten have seen losses in overall membership year-on-year, meaning that Health Shield is making real progress in the market.
Philip Wood, director of sales and marketing at Health Shield, commented: “Hitting the 100,000 membership mark is a real champagne moment for the Society. It’s a great opportunity for us to pause and reflect on the progress made in a challenging economic environment and competitive market.
He added: “The significant growth is down to the hard work and dedication of Health Shield’s team and the comprehensive range of benefits and products offered to companies and members. We’re still small enough to care, but big enough to protect.”
Health Shield, which last year scooped Group Cash Plan Provider of the Year at the Cover Excellence Awards, intends to double annual premium income to £43 million by 2013 as part of the comprehensive strategy.
One of Health Shield’s bestsellers, the Essentials Plus company paid scheme, includes an Employee Assistance Programme and starts from just one pound per week. Members can claim 100 per cent of their chosen annual maximums on a wide selection of healthcare benefits. These include: dental, optical, health & wellbeing, physiotherapy, specialist consultation, chiropody and health screenings.
