As a Health Shield member what everyday healthcare costs can I claim for?


Virtually all the things that help you to maintain good everyday healthcare, including Dental and Optical charges, Physiotherapy and Complementary therapies. We also cover Specialist Consultation and associated tests, Chiropody, Health Screening and Prescription Charges. You'll also receive tax-free cash payments for Hospital Inpatient or Day-Case Admissions.

How can you afford to refund 100% of my claims?


We refund treatment costs up to your chosen annual limit (subject to annual review). We can do this because, as a non-profit making Friendly Society, we have no shareholders to pay a dividend. All our income from membership contributions is used for the benefit of Health Shield's membership. It is important that you note that the type of benefit, benefit levels and contribution rates may change in future.

Who is covered by 'Cover for You' Membership?


This covers the member and all dependent children up to age 18, who are in full-time education and living at home.

How fast do you settle claims?


We're renowned for processing claims promptly, usually within 2 days. Health Shield has a Key Performance Indicator to process 85% of all claims within a 2 day period. Payment is by cheque or, for even greater speed, by direct credit into your bank account.
