Established in 1877 - over 125 years of care
In 1877, the year that Health Shield was formed, there was no such thing as the NHS and welfare state. Workers without the money to pay for their healthcare had to find another way to provide for themselves and their families in times of sickness and need.
Growing strong
Still driven by the caring & sharing ideals of those original members, Health Shield remains a non-profit making Friendly Society without shareholders, retaining virtually all its income for the benefit of members.
