1. Health Shield's approach
1.1 Health Shield takes the privacy of its Members seriously. Set out below is the Health Shield privacy policy which governs the way in which Health Shield processes any personal information that the Member provides. If Health Shield changes its privacy policy, the changes will be posted here.

1.2 The Member can access the Health Shield website without disclosing any personal data. Personal data will only be requested from you if you complete the online Direct Scheme Application or the online Corporate Scheme Application.

1.3 Other than the applications mentioned in 1.2, Health Shield does not conduct any business transactions via its website.

2. Processing data
2.1 Personal information will only be collected with the Member's consent.

2.2 The Member's personal information (which includes name, address, National Insurance number and any other details provided by the Member to Health Shield which identify the Member as an individual) may be processed by Health Shield during the course of its business.

2.3 Health Shield may be required to disclose personal information or documents about a member if required to do so by law in accordance with UK legislation.

2.4 Health Shield will not disclose your personal information to any third parties without your consent (except where required to do so by law).

3. Quality
Health Shield will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information held is accurate, complete and up to date.

4. Purpose of processing
Health Shield, and its authorised carriers and service providers will use the information supplied by the Member for the purpose of administering Health Shield's relationship with the Member; verifying the member's identity and address; authorising payments; and, processing any other transactions authorised by the Member.

5. Cookies
Cookies are small files that are copied to your computer from the Health Shield website. The Health Shield website only uses cookies to assist the member in the completion of the online claim form. No information is sent to Health Shield or any other person or organisation. The Member can set their computer browser to reject cookies but this will prevent the assisted completion of the claim form.

6. Security measures
6.1 Health Shield does not use its website to transact any business with members (including potential members) apart from those mentioned in 1.2. No personal or sensitive data is stored on the Health Shield website.

7. Access to members personal information

The Member has the right to request a copy of all the personal information Health Shield holds about them (a small fee may apply) and to have any inaccuracies corrected. Please address requests to Health Shield at the address in paragraph 8 below.
