Health Shield Cancer Screening Benefit

Back to News

Launched in 2017, Health Shield now offer employers the opportunity to increase their employees’ chances of detecting cancer at an early stage making treatment much more likely to be successful. By 2020, around 48% of Britons can expect to develop some form of cancer in their lifetime, so any preventative measures that can be put in place to reduce the incidence of serious conditions should be welcomed.

Early intervention reduces the amount of treatment necessary and results in improved survival rates.

The Health Shield Cancer Screening benefit, provided by Check4Cancer, is an affordable way of providing piece of mind against some of the most common cancers including bowel, breast, gynae, lung, prostate and skin. More than 350,000 people are diagnosed with some form of cancer each year in the UK, and this can have a detrimental effect on the individual and their employer. What it’s important for everyone to remember is that most cancers can be treated successfully — if they are treated early enough — and that is why Health Shield are offering employers the opportunity to have this state-of-the-art service in the workplace to provide their employees peace of mind.

The service we provide is fully supported and developed by a Board of Clinical Advisors who are experts in their area and cover a network of 80 clinics across the UK. Employees can even test for bowel and gynae themselves in the comfort of their own home. There is no referral needed for specialist tests not available on the NHS. However, if an abnormal result does appear, they will be referred to a GP.

Our cancer screening service provides awareness and education, personal screening and access to a full set of results, with private clinics nationwide.

There are six checks available, and members are not limited to the number of services they sign up for if they have additional worries. After all, early detection can save lives. Cancer Research report that half of people born after 1960 will develop cancer in their lifetime and a recent study even found that people need to see their GP three times before a referral for further investigation will even be considered. Having access to these checks with Health Shield speeds up the process and helps people to get an earlier diagnosis.
