Health Shield – the award-winning corporate health cash plan provider – has joined one of the industry’s leading intermediary trade bodies, in a first for the medical insurance sector.
The non-profit making Friendly Society is one of eight PMI and health cash plan providers to become a Corporate Member of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII). The trade body is looking to establish working parties with intermediaries and providers on issues such as product innovation and regulation.
AMII promotes and maintains high standards of professional and ethical conduct amongst members, and aims to increase awareness of the role of specialist medical insurance advisers. Members adhere to a Code of Ethics and commit to on-going professional development.
Jonathan Burton, Chief Executive at Health Shield, commented: “As an organisation, we are continually looking at ways to innovate, strengthen our product portfolio and enhance the service that we offer to our members, intermediaries and HR professionals. Our membership with AMII demonstrates our ongoing commitment to raising standards, exploring new ways of working and building important relationships for the benefit of our industry.”
AMII voted to open up its membership to insurance companies at the start of this year. The memberships were announced at last week’s [9 July 2013] annual Private Healthcare Summit, hosted by the association, and attended by Health Shield.
