It was a night of high drama at this week’s Corporate Adviser awards. Not only was England victorious in its World Cup match with Colombia, but Health Shield was crowned Best Cash Plan Provider: an award made all the more prestigious by the fact that the shortlist is generated via a poll of the magazine’s adviser community readers.
Emotions were running high at the Grange St. Paul’s Hotel in London, as guests watched the England match over dinner. Following the jubilant final minutes, the atmosphere continued during the awards presentations by comedian Mark Watson.
The Corporate Adviser Awards recognises excellence and innovation in the delivery of workplace benefits advice, consultancy, products and services. Provider categories are judged via a two-stage process, which initially involves shortlisting through a reader poll. Shortlisted providers are then invited to present written submissions showcasing the way in which their proposition meets the category criteria.
Health Shield’s winning submission highlighted the Society’s great work in 2017, focusing on the volume of claims paid (more than 2,200 during an average working day in 2017); speed of service (94% of claimants said they experienced a quick turnaround); the launch of new products and services to meet market need, including mental health app Thrive, cancer screening, physio triage, home assistance cover and the mywellness online portal for members.
